Laughing Horse Book & Video Collective

Things are pretty tough all over, despite what some folks say, and they certainly haven't got any easier lately for independent bookstores and alternative ventures of all sorts. Laughing Horse books, in Portland, Oregon, has been a radical bookstore, alternative music space, meeting place, and a reminder that against-the-grain is an option for 25 years now. It's been through all the thick-and-thin and up-and-down that you expect from volunteer-run, collective projects. But things have been particularly thin-and-down recently, and it's become a very serious question whether we'll be able to keep the doors open and the lights on into another year.

In order to move forward - whether that means clearing accounts with allied projects and riding off into the sunset or reinventing the project to better serve the community under changed circumstances - the Laughing Horse collective needs real financial assistance. Small contributions are every bit as welcome as large ones.
